The Legacy Collection
Remote Control Astromech Droids
R5-D4

Accessories
R5-D4 comes with lightsaber remote control

Look and Feel
This is my first of the Remote Control Astromech Droids. I resisted the temptation to buy them when they were first offered on Star Wars Shop. R5-D4 seems to be just slightly bigger than most R5 droids. I was unimpressed with his dome as it is not seated well and I can see some of the inner workings when it tilts certain ways. Paint apps are OK, but with my R5 I would have like to see a little wear.

Articulation
R5-D4's articulation is limited to the parts that move when activated by the remote. He moves forward and in a clockwise circle. When he moves he makes a sound but this gets annoying as the sound doesn't ever change. I would have preferred three buttons and made one for sound. For a simple remote control he is works well on

Overall Reaction
R5-D4 wasn't my first choice to purchase (I really wanted the R2-Q5), but when seeing him in the packaging I simply had to buy him. During my initial reactions I thought he was pretty cool. As I used him more the sounds got really annoying and I started to notice that my forward was really a forward and to the right a little. R5 works well on extremely flat surfaces, but when used on a surface that had a slight dip he would fall over. After using this little droid for about five minutes the novelty wore off and the feeling of being ripped off set in. $16.99 is just too much for this kind of a novelty . Unless you have a focus on collecting droids I would definitely pass on these unless you want a little interesting figure you can show off to kids or unsuspecting friends. I actually half expected my R5-D4 to blow a motivator.
