Best Wave:
ROZWELL: The Return of the Jedi Wave – 8 new figures and 2 cool astromechs! What more could you ask for? How about 2 incredible skiff guard sculpts, Slave Leia with a choice of legs, and an ewok 2-pack! An incredible wave all around (I know not perfect).
EMPIRE1980: The Empire Strikes Back - Amazing we only got 5 new waves this year. I picked this wave because I loved the AT-AT Drive and Zuckuss. The Wing Guard and Concept Snowtrooper were very solid figures. Snowspeeder Luke had some nice pack-ins, but was pretty much just a rework of a figure we have a ton of. Being a big astromech fan I also liked R2-X2 was cool, but wished that they had given him a pack in as he really wasn't a value at $8.00. Willrow Hood was the snoozer in this wave. It is nice to get him, but he is pretty much a guy you throw in the back of a diorama. HK-50 was a very good build-a-droid and I like him much better than the rust colored version we got earlier.
INQUISITOR GLOKTA: ROTJ
DEWBACKHUNTER: ROTJ
VADERSFIST: Empire
Runner-up:
ROZWELL: A New Hope Wave – I can’t resist a good OT wave with some cantina aliens.
EMPIRE1980: Wave 9 - Return of the Jedi - This wave had 4 awesome offerings in Princess Leia in Slave Outfit, the Ewoks, Giran, and the Nikto Gunner. Major Panno was pretty good, but for my money Luke Skywalker in Death Star II attire, Nien Nunb, and Malakili were snoozers for me. R3-M3 was very nice to get as he shows up in the Death Star, but I was burned out on him pretty quick as I ended up with more too many of his body parts. R5-C7 was a cool figure to get and was supposedly a background droid in Ep 2. I would have rather an OT background droid though.
INQUISITOR GLOKTA?
DEWBACKHUNTER: ROTS
VADERSFIST: ROTJ
Winner: This one was a no-brainer! Everyone mentioned this wave and it was awesome! -

Best Legacy Figure:
ROZWELL: Nikto Gunner (Nysad) – An incredible sculpt, great paint apps, a nice gun attachment accessory, this figure is perfect!
EMPIRE1980: Zuckuss - I just don't know what to say other than he is fantastic. He was so good I thought about buying two of because he was that cool.
INQUISITOR GLOKTA: Rum Sleg
DEWBACKHUNTER: Slave Leia
VADERSFIST: Zuckuss
Runner-up:
ROZWELL: Giran – Another perfectly sculpted figure this one was a close runner-up. Zuckuss and Plo Koon get an honorable mention.
EMPIRE1980: In a very hard decision I am going with Princess Leia in Slave Outfit. It was a fantastic looking figure, you got two bottoms, and awesome goblet, and a staff.
INQUISITOR GLOKTA: Giran
DEWBACKHUNTER: Giran
VADERSFIST: Giran
Winner: This category was a little closer. Zuckuss received 2 out of the top 5 spots so he wins the but Giran gets an honorable mention for being the only figure mentioned by 4/5 of us. -
"Must Have of the Year"
Zuckuss / Giran (honorable mention)

Best Build-A-Droid:
ROZWELL: R3-A2 – I like this red droid with a clear dome.
EMPIRE1980: I really liked R3-A2. Not to mention I had to go on a quest to track his pieces down!
INQUISITOR GLOKTA: HK-47
DEWBACKHUNTER: L8L9
VADERSFIST: HK50
Runner-up:
ROZWELL: R3-M3 – I also like this blue droid with a clear dome. Overall none of the BADs excited me that much. They were a great pack-in if you planned on getting the whole wave (which I did) and they added value to the somewhat over-priced figures.
EMPIRE1980: L8-L9 Really cool to get a character from the micro series!
INQUISITOR GLOKTA?
DEWBACKHUNTER: HK50
VADERSFIST?
Winner: This category was pretty spead out but two of us did choose R3-A2. -

Best Clone Wars Figure:
ROZWELL: Commander Cody – I’m going with my 6 year old son’s choice because I don’t collect the line. I thought for sure he’d say Cad Bane but he didn’t. I’m not even sure if Cody is a 2009 figure.
EMPIRE1980: Cad Bane - What a fantastic character and figure. I just wish he came with knee articulation.
INQUISITOR GLOKTA: Commando Droid
DEWBACKHUNTER: Cad Bane
VADERSFIST: Cad Bane
Runner-up:
ROZWELL: Battle Droid – Again, my son’s choice.
EMPIRE1980: Luminara Unduli - Best Luminara figure out to date!
INQUISITOR GLOKTA: Assassin Droid
DEWBACKHUNTER: Luminara
VADERSFIST?
Winner: It's no suprise that Cad Bane took this category - "Must Have of the Year"
Cad Bane

Best Comic Pack:
ROZWELL: Janek Sunber & Amanin (Wal-Mart Exclusive) – The Amanin was a nice sculpt. I remember at the time feeling like this was a good. I bought a small army of 4 and threw the Sunbers in a box.
EMPIRE1980: Darth Krayt & Sigel Dare - What more could you ask for! You get an awesome Sith and an Imperial Knight!
INQUISITOR GLOKTA: Wal-Mart Exclusive Pilots
DEWBACKHUNTER: Darth Krayt and the guard chick
VADERSFIST: Darth Krayt and the guard chick
Runner-up:
ROZWELL: Ibtisam & Nrin Vakil (X-Wing Rogue Squadron, Wal-Mart Exclusive) – Not hugely exciting but there weren’t many to choose from and I could always use more pilots or my displays.
EMPIRE1980: Lumiya & Luke Skywalker - Lumiya is the real star in this pack. You get that fantastic light whip, and two heads. Luke isn't half bad either!
INQUISITOR GLOKTA: Wal-Mart Amanin Pack
DEWBACKHUNTER: Wal-Mart Amanin
VADERSFIST: Wal-Mart Amanin
Winner: Darth Krayt & Sigel Dare was chosen by 3 out of 5 of us. Vong armor is not my cup of tea but it shows that even hardcore OT fans love a Sith Lord. - "Must Have of the Year"
Darth Krayt & Sigel Dare

Best Vehicle:
ROZWELL: The AT-ST (Wal-Mart Exclusive) – a new sculpt that no one was expecting. This is a great toy! I bought 1 for my Endor display but I’m looking to buy 2 more on clearance, one for my son and an extra for my Hoth display.
EMPIRE1980: AT-ST - The Dewback was my favorite until I opened this bad boy! It just has all the bells and whistles you would want. Opening eye flaps, better scale, and I love the driver. Now single card him Hasbro!
INQUISITOR GLOKTA: Turbo Tank
DEWBACKHUNTER: AT-ST
VADERSFIST: AT-ST
Runner-up:
ROZWELL: The Turbo Tank – This was a nice toy. It can hold lots of troops, has lots of play features, and it’s mostly movie accurate.
EMPIRE1980: Dewback with Sandtrooper - What a great figure and despite what RedLeader says, I really like the sculpt of the dewback! (This would have been my vote but I didn’t consider it a vehicle – Rozwell)
INQUISITOR GLOKTA?
DEWBACKHUNTER: Turbo Tank
VADERSFIST?
Winner: The AT-ST was the classic OT vehicle that no one saw coming and damn was it great, way better than the original. Empire1980, is the dewback a vehicle? I guess it transports some troops around. - "Must Have of the Year"
The AT-ST

Best Battle Pack:
ROZWELL: Scramble on Yavin – Hands down the BEST battle pack of the year! A new mini vehicle for my Yavin hangar display, an excellent rebel ground crew figure, another pilot, and a cool red and black droid. Everything I could ask for in a battle pack. Nice job Hasbro!
EMPIRE1980: Scramble on Yavin - You get an astromech, an X-wing pilot, that shuttle, and the best part... A ground crew personnel! Hasbro please single card him!! (I second that notion – Rozwell)
INQUISITOR GLOKTA: Clone Wars Assault on Vulture Claw
DEWBACKHUNTER: Scramble at Yavin
VADERSFIST: Scramble at Yavin
Runner-up:
ROZWELL: Gelagrub Patrol – I know I’m in the minority here but I always wanted the gelagrub. The execution could have been better but at least we got one.
EMPIRE1980: Battle for Endor - Love the Ewok so much I bought 2 of them! Not to mention the arrows, rocks, and that glider! Jedi Luke isn't half bad and I could always use another Imperial Officer.
INQUISITOR GLOKTA: Scramble at Yavin
DEWBACKHUNTER: Endor Hanglider pack
VADERSFIST: Endor Hanglider pack
Winner: Besides a strange traitorous vote from Inquisitor Glokta (he's an odd guy), Scramble at Yavin was the clear must have battle pack of the year! Hopefully the sell through of this item will show Hasbro that "good" OT battle packs will sell with collectors. - "Must Have of the Year"

Best Exclusive:
ROZWELL: This category was a tough one because there were a variety of exclusive that were very good. My choice for favorite was the Dewback (Is this a surprise coming from DewbackPatrol?). Another unexpected exclusive. This looks amazing on display. You can see the detailed musculature and it has multiple points of articulation. It comes with an exclusive Sandtrooper that is finally a cool movie accurate and has a movie accurate gun. The only drawback was that it appeared to be partially based on the Phantom Menace version.
EMPIRE1980: Wal-Mart Exclusive Build A Droid 2-Packs - Other than the Anakin Skywalker 2-Pack these sets were awesome! It was even better when I got them at $7.00 a piece!
INQUISITOR GLOKTA: Target Geonosis Packs
DEWBACKHUNTER: AT-ST
VADERSFIST: Dewback
Runner-up:
ROZWELL: The AT-ST (Wal-Mart Exclusive) – Wal-Mart almost had the market cornered on incredible exclusives his year. I still find it hard to believe that they made a new one of these. A second runner-up would be the Target exclusive Geonosis 2 packs. It was great getting some new Jedi for the arena battle.
EMPIRE1980: Wal-Mart Exclusive Comic Pack Machook, Keolkeech & Kettch - I just loved the Ewoks with the Stormtrooper helmet!
INQUISITOR GLOKTA?
DEWBACKHUNTER: Dewback
VADERSFIST: AT-ST
Winner: The Dewback takes the prize with 2 out of the top 5 votes. I'm suprised it didn't do better. We are DewbackPatrol.com after all. Oddest vote goes to Empire1980 for the dayglow Ewoks.
- "Must Have of the Year"

Best Evolutions Pack:
ROZWELL: With only 3 to choose from all of which were Wal-Mart exclusive I went with the Rebel Pilot Legacy III. I can always use more rebel pilots although Hasbro did a great job of filling out the ranks this year. Now how about some rebel troops Hasbro?
EMPIRE1980: Clone Commandos - Loved all the figures in this set! Was very upset when I couldn't find more of them on clearance!
INQUISITOR GLOKTA: Wal-Mart Rebel Pilots
DEWBACKHUNTER: Wal-Mart Imperial Pilots
VADERSFIST: Wal-Mart Commando
Runner-up:
ROZWELL: I guess the Clone Commandos by a small margin
EMPIRE1980: Imperial Pilot Legacy II - This pack gets the nod for the Tie Pilot. I ended up picking up 3 extras of this pack on clearance. Can't beat getting a Tie Pilot and two throw-ins for $7!
INQUISITOR GLOKTA?
DEWBACKHUNTER: Wal-Mart Rebel Pilots
VADERSFIST: Wal-Mart Rebel Pilots
Winner: Not many to choose from this year but the Rebel Pilots pack squeaks by the other 2 for the win. - "Must Have of the Year"
Rebel Pilot Legacy
|
Best Repack:
ROZWELL: Let’s face it, repacks are here to stay. So, what was the best one? I didn’t buy a single one so I’ll go with R2-D2 (Electronic). Why? Because my son wanted this figure from the first day he saw it. If we’re going to have repacks, they might as well be ones that kid’s want to have so at least they’ll set out.
EMPIRE1980: Boba Fett with the A New Hope Wave - I know technically he is a repaint, but his paint apps were so much better than the EVO pack! (I forgot about that one. I change my vote - Rozwell)
INQUISITOR GLOKTA?
DEWBACKHUNTER: Was the sarlacc with desert skiff this year?
VADERSFIST: any troop builder figure
Winner: No clear winner at all in this category. Perhaps because most people don't really like repacks. - "Must Have of the Year"
No One!
|
Biggest Surprise:
ROZWELL: AT-ST and Dewback – We got 2 new awesome new sculpts as exclusives this year. I did not see this coming. I hope the lack of sell through does not put an end to these types of newly sculpted exclusives.
EMPIRE1980: BOGO Figure packs! Without these I would not have the army of Stormtroopers, Spacetroopers, Jawas, and Biker Scouts I have today!
INQUISITOR GLOKTA: Willrow Hood
DEWBACKHUNTER: Willrow Hood
VADERSFIST: Willrow Hood
Winner: The biggest suprise of the year was Ice Cream Maker Guy. I think the suprise was that he was made not that he was a great figure.
Willrow Hood
|
Biggest Disappointment:
ROZWELL: This was easy. The lack of new Legacy figures on shelves for months! And, when they did arrive around September it was a trickle until we got close to Christmas. This year is going to be another tough one with only one new wave (EU) until September.
EMPIRE1980: Gungan Warrior - I am not into building armies of PT figures let alone Gungans but this figure had promise and Hasbro really blew it when they didn't make the horn holster removable!
INQUISITOR GLOKTA: That "Black" Bespin Guard
DEWBACKHUNTER: That "Black" Bespin Guard
VADERSFIST: Willrow Hood (he still looks like garbage man)
Loser: While I liked this figure I think the vote is a result of the sculpt being based on a white bespin trooper and not a black one like the classic. For that, Bespin Gaurd
-
"You're dewback poodoo!"
Bespin Guard
|
Worst Legacy Figure:
ROZWELL: Clegg Holdfast – He was a new sculpt but I just can’t seem to get excited about new pod racers. Most seem to be too cartoony. I didn’t hate him but I had little interest in buying him.
EMPIRE1980: Captain Jeremoch Colton - What an absolutely boring figure. I don't care if Jeremy Bulloch played him. What the heck am I going to do with him! Runner Up:
R2-D2 Jawa Capture - Way to go Hasbro you got us all to plunk down $8.00 for a figure we already have with some blue crap on his head!
INQUISITOR GLOKTA: Amidala from EP1 wave (Boring!)
DEWBACKHUNTER: Amidala from EP1 wave (Boring!)
VADERSFIST: IG 88 concept
Loser: I think some vote sharing lead to this win (or loss) so Queen Amidala -
"You're dewback poodoo!"
The Return of the Jedi Wave
|
Worst Clone Wars Figure:
ROZWELL: Don’t collect the line and my son seems to like them all so I’ll just say Ahsoka. Not because of her figure but just because we hate the character.
EMPIRE1980: Whorm Loathsom - He looked like a cool alien, he looked decent in the package, he was awful when you opened him up!
INQUISITOR GLOKTA: Admiral Yularen (He just looks weak)
DEWBACKHUNTER: That blue guy that john likes
Loser: No clear winner here. Perhaps the CW line is so good that there are no real losers.
No One
|
Worst Vehicle:
ROZWELL: TIE Fighter: Pirate (Previews) – This is a great example of a horrible exclusive. Paint a rebel symbol on it, price it high, and make it exclusive. What a joke! This thing was doomed from the start. And why would rebels paint a symbol on it? “Hey we’re over here, shoot this way”. Ridiculous! I’m sure there’s some stupid EU explanation but I could care less.
EMPIRE1980: Octuptarra Droid - It just didn't excite me and that price point had me running!
INQUISITOR GLOKTA: Wal-Mart AT-ST
DEWBACKHUNTER: Dooku with geonosian speeder
VADERSFIST: Dooku with geonosian speeder
Loser: Again as a result of some vote coordination (I think), Dooku with speeder was chosen as the worst vehicle. So, Dooku's speeder - "You're dewback poodoo!"
Count Dooku and Geonosian Speeder
|
Worst Battle Pack:
ROZWELL: I can’t say I really hated any of them. Some re-releases didn’t interest me but they were put out again due to their popularity and sell through so I can’t argue with that.
EMPIRE1980: Duel on Mustafar - What a BORING battlepack! Did any of these sell?
INQUISITOR GLOKTA: My Sexy Ewok with Shirtless Darth Maul
DEWBACKHUNTER: Jedi Vs Darth Sidious repack
VADERSFIST: Jedi Vs Darth Sidious repack
Loser: I think everyone is sick of seeing this re-released battle pack over and over again but I guess multiple jedis sell well with the kids. Jedi Vs Darth Sidious - "You're dewback poodoo!"
Jedi Vs. Darth Sidious
|
Worst News out of Hasbro:
ROZWELL: Canceling the second Hoth Trooper and bringing him back in a future battle pack. How am I going to army build this figure now? I can’t figure out why they didn’t release him first. I can’t army build with the bearded version!
EMPIRE1980: Not getting the Hoth Trooper (beardless) single carded. It is really going to make things difficult is he is packed in with a bunch of crap figures like a astromech repack, Hoth Han, and General McQuarrie. Runner Up: The canceling of the Comic Pack line. This was the last real value that Hasbro has offered and my only chance to snap up some of the Legacy Comic characters.
Hoth Rebel Trooper canceled!
|
Most looking forward to in 2010:
ROZWELL: The VINTAGE line – I was thrilled when Hasbro said that they would finally be getting away from all that EU crap and focusing on the movies again. I can’t wait to see the movie figure choices at Toy Fair. More skiff guards? Hoth troops? New imperials? Cantina patrons? This is a very welcome change and I’m glad the sales finally reflected the importance of the movie characters. I personally hope it’s a long time before we see these lame EU characters that the loud vocal minority always talks about…Jaxxon, Delilah Blue, The Yuzon Vong (I don’t even care enough to look up the spelling). A runner-up would be the BAT-AT (Big AT-AT). This think could be unbelievable.
EMPIRE1980: I am so incredibly excited for the AT-AT and very curious about the Boba Fett mail away. I really think Hasbro could hit a homerun with both especially if they give us a rocket firing Boba Fett!
INQUISITOR GLOKTA: AT-AT (sound good so far)
DEWBACKHUNTER: AT-AT and RedLeader76 saying that he is not buying anything next year only to turn around and buy multiple of several figures and more!
VADERSFIST: AT-AT may not be able to afford it but i can still drool. Seeing how may points Mister Jim will rack up this year
Clearly a 3 foot tall BAT-AT is a winner on most peoples list! Keep your fingers crossed. Toyfair is a couple weeks away as of this writing and DewbackPatrol's own Rozwell (me) and Empire1980 with be there!
The BAT-AT!
